Fill in this sheet and discuss who they are as a class to share answers.
What is important to you? In the Humanities we talk a lot about perspective and values as they influence the choices we make.
Values are what we tjudge as most important in life, e.g family.
Beliefs are things we hold to be true, whether there is proof or not, e.g. someone may believe that children should be seen and not heard (there is not proof that it is a good idea but still, some people think its how it should be)
Perspective is the way we see the world. This is influenced by our values and beliefs.
As a class brainstorm what you think are major issues in New Zealand at the moment
Have a quick Google to find what others think are major issues in New Zealand
Take one of these quizes to find out who you could vote for in NZ elections (if you were old enough!!)
Unfortunately we don't have a New Zealand based game for this part but let's have a go at being President of America for a day...
You will need to pick what is important to you e.g. health, energy etc.
See if you can successfully run a country.
You are going to create an election poster for your campaign to become Prime Minister.
You need to include:
what your values are
what laws you might change
why people should vote for you
consider hierachy of information!
